Department of Southern Swedish Forest Science
We are looking for a motivated individual to conduct research on: Continuous Cover Forestry – regeneration and forest management for complex stand structures.
About the job
This project will focus on how the effects of selective logging on regeneration and stand structure change with soil fertility and climate. It is part of the larger BROADEN project, which deals with nature-based forest management and restoration of broadleaf forests. The aim of the project is to generate new knowledge for the management of such continuity forests. For this research, we will use existing data from a long-term experiment on selective logging and data from the National Forest Inventory. This will be complemented by new field measurements during the project.
Your background
The candidate must have a PhD in forest management, forest production, forestry, biology, ecology, or equivalent. The PhD must be completed by the time the employment decision is made.
The candidate must have proven experience in analyzing trees and stand structures, as demonstrated through scientific publications and a dissertation.
Previous experience in fieldwork related to regeneration and management within the framework of continuous cover forestry and experience of such forestry from other parts of the world is advantageous. The department values candidates who have an interest in teaching and mentoring university students.
